Personally, I don't think there's a lot of explaining necessary
for the site since most of that was taken care of in the title.
However, if you happen to be one of those people who think things
like 3D polygonal adaptations of old favorites happen to be cool,
I'll try to go extra slow for you. Fan Scene is not only a
web-site focusing on games and systems that didn't take the
mainstream by storm, but it is, or I should say will be, an
on-going testament. And that is, no matter how "highly
evolved" a hobby like video gaming becomes, no amount of
glitz or flash will ever replace substance. We as gamers are all
too aware of the "band-wagon" mentality of the
mainstream video game player (i.e. tending to purchase whatever is
popular this week with little to no regard to the quality or lack
thereof of said product), and it is, put bluntly, a very sickening
thing to see. While 2D gaming is as dead as collecting pogs in the
eyes of the mainstream consumer, we at Fan Scene like to believe
that it will always be what true video gaming is all about.
However, we also believe that not all 3D games and next-gen
systems are automatically shit. There are good games being made,
but there are literally hundreds of places to hear about them, and
some can and will be talked about here. But mainly, we will focus
on two great systems that not only are still fun to play (even by
today's "hefty" standards), but the games that set
standards that after ten or so years have yet to be surpassed.
Fan Scene offers you reviews, thoughts, opinions, and commentary by the fans
for the fans. Unlike advertisement driven video game magazines or
web-sites, Fan Scene will not pull any punches in letting you know
what games are worth your hard-earned money and time to find. Any
button-masher can waltz into an Electronics Boutique and slap down
money for the latest over-hyped and mass-produced glitzy piece of
eye-candy, but how many people will know the experience of
defeating Galam after a long and adventurous quest? How many
people can say they've heard " I'll chisel your gravestone,
sleep well...", and feel the butterflies in their stomach
grow with each word? You can bet no where near as many who drooled
over the triangular tits of Lara Croft, and that's a sad
fact.
If you've
found your way here, this can mean one of two things. You're
either going to know where we're coming from and hopefully get a
kick out what you see, or this is going to be a new and
potentially enlightening experience for you. We hope to cater to
both. Enlighten and entertain, all the while having fun with what
we do.
For now Fan Scene plans to update when new material becomes available from
the contributors. However, if you know where you're coming from on
the subject of video games and you feel like taking part in this,
please feel free to submit what you got. Again, this is a site for
the fans by the fans, so the more fans the better. And if you
choose to write anything don't be afraid to write about something
that may have already been covered. Different perspectives and
opinions are always welcome.
So now,
kick back, relax and enjoy the ride. From us to you, thanks...
